Point in Time, Little Aub and Arlecchino's Leap
This afternoon we take Paul Hobbs Champs Elysees two year old filly, Point in Time, to Wolverhampton for their extended mile Fillies Novice Stake; the filly made something of a slow start to her first run at Kempton in the middle of October before quietly staying on progressively up the Sunbury straight; ridden more prominently from a poor draw she improved on this on her second start at Kempton at the beginning of the month just losing second place in the last furlong. She should improve again this afternoon and, although she will be a better and stronger filly over further next year, should run well over best part of a furlong further than Kempton’s mile;the difficulty with forming a more precise judgement about her chance this afternoon is that her race is packed full of unexposed (and some unraced) people.
At Kempton this evening our Milk it Mick gelding, Little Aub, makes his racecourse debut over six furlongs. Like many of our two year olds he will improve for the experience and he should be an effective and competitive person in time in handicaps over six and seven furlongs.
An hour later Arlecchino’s Leap runs over six furlongs for the first time since the end of his three year old year; he has had something of an interrupted career in 2017, primarily caused by his developed aversion to the stalls, but he remains a horse of considerable talent who can travel strongly into his races, witness his run at Kempton under Liam Keniry at the end of October. With the Handicapper slowly relenting we hope that his ability to travel into the shorter race this evening will help to get him back on track and he can outrun his big price, particularly some of the massive odds that are being proffered on the Exchanges.
