Second Two Year Old Runner of the Season at Lingfield
Just touching on how things went at Chelmsford on Wednesday it would be true to say that we have had better evenings and have got the horses back to Rowdown earlier than 0200 the following morning; we might be looking at retiring both Black Truffle and Mezmaar; both have been spiffing servants to both SH and to Rowdown and have won 14 races and been placed 35 times between them from 143 racecourse starts; and over £72k in prizemoney; both have earned a happy retirement.
Cala Sveva, despite having a seven and eight furlong pedigree, struggled to go the pace throughout and she will go up in trip going forward.
This evening we take our second two year old runner of the Season, our Morpheus colt Gifted Dreamer; from the family of the smart miler, Docksider, who was trained by the late and much missed John Hills to be second in the Sussex Stakes and who later was a Group Two winner on both the continent and in the Far East and who is now a successful sire in Italy; our guy's dam won over seven furlongs and we start Gifted Dreamer off at that trip on turf this evening in one of the first two year old races of the season over seven; like most of our two year olds he will likely come on a fair bit for what he achieves this evening and he should enjoy the safe easy ground that Lingfield have produced.
As I write this we are looking at Monday's declarations with Bullseye Bullet engaged at Chepstow and Sellingallthetime, Freedom and Wheat and Arlecchino's Leap at Wolverhampton; Shufoog also carries an entry over hurdles at Southwell on Monday with a declaration Sunday morning.
