Welcome to Mark Usher Racing!

I have been training racehorses since 1983 and I am now based in Rowdown Stables, Upper Lambourn, a modern, purpose built, Yard with 30 Boxes with easy access to the superb Lambourn Gallops. We moved into Rowdown on the 1st January 2016 and you can see something of the excellent facilites we have here. My team and I work hard to do the best for our horses and to achieve success and enjoyment for our owners; I pride myself on high standards and attention to detail.

Bird to Love

2014   Bay   Mare

by Delegator (GB)  ex  Bird Over  ( Bold Over )

        Owner:  Mark Usher Racing Club

Closely related to our successful staying handicap mare, Bird for Life, and by the same sire Delegator, this mare was originally in training as a two year old with Ralph Beckett running just the once for Ralph, over six furlongs at Kempton in November 2016.

After spending 2017 and 2018 back with her Owners she came back into work at Rowdown in the Spring of 2019 and had two runs in Maiden company, at Windsor and at Kempton, over middle distances to achieve a mark; we were delighted with her first run in a handicap, at Windsor over their extended 13 furlongs at the end of July, in which she finished third; she has continued to progress, winning at Kempton in November and at Chelmsford at the end of February, on both occasions under Isobel Francis; she also powered home in the British Horse Society Charity Race run at Newbury at the beginning of November under Izzy Budge; she is now a successful and valued member or our Racing Club.

The Mare struggles a little with her Seasons and this is the core rationale for the slight inconsistency in her form; but in seven runs from the resumption in June she has been third twice before winning a twelve furlong Apprentice Handicap at Lingfield really decisively under Bradley Harris, whose first winner this was; you can see a video of this performance here.
