Owner:
2023 Rowdown Nursery Partnership
An athletic individual out of a mare who was a winner herself and has produced 2 winners rated in the 80’s his sire, Outstrip, developing into a top class stallion, siring a Melbourne cup winner.
Monks Mead made quite a slow start to his career on the track and didn't make all that much impact in three quite ordinary Maidens; but he showed the benefit of that experience by winning his first start in a Nursery, over seven furlongs at Lingfield at the end of July, winning decisively despite showing greeness alone in front until the opposition came at him in the last furlong; he then ran with credit in three Nurseries over sic, seven and eight furlongs, finishing second twice and being beaten no more than two lengths in the third. He got back into the Winner's Enclosure and rounded off a really satisfactory first season by winning an eight furlong Nursery at Chelmsford at the beginning of November under an excellent ride from Robert Havlin, who has a fine record for us.
As a three year old he ran eleven times being placed second or third on six of those starts going really close in three runs at Bath, being beaten a neck, a head and half a length; he showed real consistency throughout the Season.
The Partnership has retained him for his fourth season as a five year old; we were delighted to see him run consistently and well in the Winter of 2025/2026 and he won a ten furlong Classified Stake at Lingfield in the third week of January; and was then placed in three subsequent Classified Stakes at Chelmsford and Lingfield
