One thing from Thursday was that everyone from Rowdown were really pleased to see Dave Crosse ride a winner at Ludlow on an ex Saxon House High Five horse, Karl Marx; a really well deserved happy event.
There is a staggering amount of prize money, something of the order of £5M, revolving around the Dubai World Cup at Meydan this afternoon; Arrogate, a Juddmonte American Bred granddaughter of one of the very best fillies to race in North America over the last 50 years, Meadow Star, would be a really good winner for racing generally as it will bring a racehorse to the forefront of the sporting world;something that will help racing with so many sports competing for popularity, support and attendance. Just over a year ago Arrogate was beaten three quarters of a length on his first start in a minor Maiden at a provincial track, Los Alamitos; he has been unbeaten since then including a hugely impressive 13 length win in the Grade One Travers Stakes at Saratoga and an equally high class performance to get the better of California Chrome in the Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita; commentators in America have been making comparisons between him and Secretariat . . . . . . . . . .
Our plans at Rowdown are slowly starting to take shape and April looks as if we are going to start to get busy; we are all much looking forward to the start of the turf season.
