We were obviously delighted with the way things panned out at Bath yesterday Bayston Hill finding the ground and increased trip the passport to quite a comfortable win; Born to Please, who was running for the first time since last November, also ran a pleasing race, keeping on really well to be fourth after being very free early; a happy race for Rowdown. Both horses should have a productive Summer.
Things self evidently didn’t go quite so great for Arlecchino’s Leap at Goodwood; he had some issues with the stalls when he was younger and we had thought he was over them so, in this respect, it is unfortunately back to the drawing board with him.
This evening we take Bay Fortuna to South West Wales for Ffos Las’ twenty furlong Handicap Hurdle; he ran a nice race over an inadequate trip at Huntingdon at the end of April on his first start back for more than a year and a half and we are looking for him to build on that this evening; he is in excellent nick at home and the only downside this evening is the monstrous thunderstorm that deposited 14mm of rain on the track in less than an hour last night.
At Salisbury, in contrast to Ffos Las, had only a small amount of rain overnight and we have taken Leith Bridge, who does need some cut, out; Royal Sentiment will run in Wiltshire this evening; he did not run great at Brighton a fortnight ago and we are looking to him to show some improvement this evening.
