Rainbow Jazz, Dreamboat Annie and Sweet Amazement
The Yard were very pleased with Rainbow Jazz in the Goodwood Novice Auction yesterday evening and we are confident he is a nice horse in the making; although green he was the first home of the newcomers and everything else being equal is certain to improve, particularly as he begins to go up in trip.
A busy Summer continues with two evening runners today;Dreamboat Annie in Lingfield’s Novice Auction and Sweet Amazement in the last race of Leicester’s card, their five furlong Handicap; the evening meetings are great but do make for some late nights, Bay Fortuna and Alex not arriving back at Rowdown until after 0130 Friday morning and it will not much better for Sweet Amazement this evening or rather tomorrow morning.
Dreamboat Annie, who was bred by Verity Bourne and who is out of a winning and quite well related Mare that we had at Saxon House, Bold Rose, is a quick person we like and who we hope will have a nice future in both Nurseries and in Handicaps next year; she doesn’t have a great draw this evening and will improve again but, if she can overcome the draw, might well run a nice race this evening.
Sweet Amazement is another quick filly who, at least at the mo, probably doesn’t stay six furlongs; her first run in a Handicap, at Chelmsford, showed that she didn’t much appreciate a deep polytrack, certainly on the bend, and this evening she has really for the first time a sound turf surface over the minimum trip which have always been thought of of her optimum conditions and we are taking her to Leicester to run well. Fergus Sweeney has a long association with Mark and she will be well ridden this evening.
