Marshall Aid at Windsor This Evening
After such a splendid week for the Blue and White colours last week we had much more of a mixed evening on Saturday. Sweet Amazement picked up an injury to her off fore knee at Leicester after travelling really well into her race where she had, for the first time, her optimum conditions and after showing a fair few signs that she was about to translate the speed and ability she has always shown at home onto the track. Dreamboat Annie ran another race hinting at her potential going forward in Nurseries at Lingfield, just finding the raw pace over five a bit much, the wide outside draw not been particularly helpful.
This evening we take Marshall Aid to Windsor, whose prizemoney is on a par with the similarly owned Uttoxeter, that is to say not much (it is frankly dreadful that Brian Rogan will receive around £1850 if his gelding wins this evening) for their twelve furlong Apprentice Handicap; if a person deserves a change of luck it is Marshall Aid who has been so consistent on the artificial surfaces over the Winter and he will be well ridden by the emerging Nicola Currie; it will be interesting to see how he does over twelve this evening, the shortest trip he has run over, bar the once at Kempton last August, since he came over from Ireland; he is a working man’s price each way at around ten or twelve to one.
