Black Truffle, Bird for Life and Makhfar at Wolverhampton
We were obviously delighted with Dreamboat Annie’s continued progression to win at Bath on Friday evening; the more so given that we trained the dam and Verity Bourne bred the filly; you can see a video of the race here We shall now probably take the filly forward into Nurseries in which sphere she should be nicely competitive.
We take three people, Black Turffle, Bird for Life and Makhfar to Wolverhampton this afternoon. Black Truffle has an excellent track record at Wolverhampton over the last five years and is nicely handicapped on his best form; the truth is that it is difficult to know precisely how close to being back to his best he is after such a a long lay off and today will tell us a bit more.
Bird for Life will take the final step towards a handicap mark in the seven furlong Median Auction Maiden; she is going up in trip again and we will think about where we might look to place her after seeing how she does this pm against some quite strong opposition; no such thing as an easy race and this pm’s iteration is populated by several people with ratings above 70.
Our best chance almost certainly lies with Makhfar in the last race and who has come out the other side of winning a similar course and distance handicap at the beginning of the month in excellent nick; he is only penalised three pounds for winning quite decisively and should run a really competitive race and one way of looking at him this pm is that he is an each way bet to nothing.
