Mette at Southwell Yesterday
Truth to tell we were disappointed with Mette, who, at Southwell at least, just did not build on what she achieved at Lingfield. There seems no obvious reason for her running as modestly and we will, I think, not be in a rush to go back to the fibresand and Lingfield or Wolverhampton would be her likely next stops.
An interesting day in prospect tomorrow with Marshall Aid running in the Amateur riders staying handicap at Lingfield under Ellie Mackenzie, who has done a fine job backing and riding away the yearling fillies; and Head Lad Alex Swinswood has entered his Black Sam Bellamy mare that he trains under a Permit, Fifty Peach Way, in the Ludlow Bumper. I believe that, if he runs her, this will be his first runner as a trainer under Rules and we all hope that she does well for him and his family.
