Bayston Hill and Threediamondrings at Lingfield
A slightly mixed evening at Brighton but Black Truffle valiantly tried to make it four wins for the Racing Club in four successive days going down by less than two lengths in finishing second at Bath.
At Brighton things didn’t really work out for either All About the Pace nor Rainbow Jazz; All About the Pace pulled terribly hard on her first run back and not surprisingly was found out in the last furlong; she will improve for yesterday and we will look to encourage her to settle better. Rainbow Jazz, ridden from the front, just did not seem to stay ten furlongs and we will have to go back to the drawing board with him over shorter going forward.
This afternoon we take Threediamondrings and Bayston Hill back to Lingfield where they have both won; Threediamondrings can be a slightly tricky person at the stalls but he is now a really well handicapped person and he ran well at the Surrey track at the beginning of April from three pounds wrong in a better class race (he has also ran considerable better than his finishing position might suggest on at least two occasions over the Winter); if he an Nicola can get the start right he has a definite competitive chance this pm in what is a modest race.
Bayston Hill returns to the track after a short break and is five pounds higher today than when he won so nicely at Lingfield under Nicola Currie last December; he might have a little to find at these weights this afternoon (notably with the James Fanshawe trained person) with one or two of this field but we go to Lingfield to run well; he should give his loyal people a lot of interest over the coming Summer.
Finally we are holding a Racing Club Open Morning at Rowdown a week Sunday, the 13th, from 11am; you would be very welcome to come and see the five club horses; it has been a spiffing week for the Club with the three winners on successive days; plus Black Truffle nearly making it four!!
