Club Update
It’s another quiet week for the Club. We had Misu Pete and Black Truffle in a race at Wolverhampton on Friday but Pete didn’t get it and I’m not sure it’s the right race for Truffle. If we run him we probably shouldn’t expect much. There are races for them both at Yarmouth next Wednesday. It’s a bit of a trek but Pete is a course and distance winner there and the flat track should give Truffle his best chance of winning on the turf. The ground would have to be on the easier side so again we will be watching the weather forecast closely.
Bird for Life and Born to Please seem very well at home. Born will be entered in an amateur race at Newbury which is also next Wednesday but the ground would have to go pretty soft to tempt us.
Some good news it the farrier has done remedial work on Shamonix. There was a lot of pressure building on her heels and it was very painful for her so she now has bar shoes on. There are pictures comparing a bar shoe to a normal shoe below. The metal covers the heel and the frog. The aim is for the frog to take the pressure rather than the heel. The difference in Shamonix since they have been put on is like night and day. She is so much more comfortable now. We will crack on with her again and I don’t think she is that long off the track. Fingers crossed, we should see a big improvement from her last run.
On to new business; I created the Club to try and give everyone the opportunity to get a lot of pleasure and excitement out of racing whilst looking after some of the horses we love best. It’s still a working progress but I’m very happy with the way it’s gone. I am now taking on a new project which is kind of the flip side of the coin. I’ve attached the details and I’d like to know if anyone is interested. Just to be clear though it’s not a part of the Club and I’m not just advertising to Club members. I do know a few people will like the idea as I’ve been considering it for a while and I have talked about it. Like the Club it is a small start of something I hope we can expand on. Any feedback would be very much appreciated and if you happen get my sales pitch twice it’s because I really believe in it!!
