Bird for Life at Kempton Yesterday Evening
Bird for Life did us proud again last night to finish 2nd. Everything looked good so I couldn’t believe she wasn’t fancies more in the morning. Ellie gave her a great ride. Bird wasn’t travelling very well through the race but Ellie kept at it and they really took off in the straight. It was as shame the winner had already gone clear but he is a good horse on his day, so maybe we wouldn’t have beaten him anyway. If anyone got a picture of Bird last night could you send one through to us please.
There are only two options for her now at Kempton. A mile and a half on the 2nd February and 2 miles on the 6th. I think as long as we don’t feel it’s coming too soon we should go for the race on the 2nd. She has just run well over the trip; it’s a Saturday and I think Black Truffle could run as well. Hopefully plenty of people will be able to come along.
Born To Please got a handicap mark of 103, which considering the Newbury result is very fair. I didn’t think the placings could be read too literally. 103 gives us a real chance of winning a handicap hurdle. Lingfield on the 19th February was the plan but that was when I thought she might get a higher mark. We will have a look to see if there are any better options for her.
