Shufoog ran well at Sandown to be sixth beaten just over two lengths, just not being able to quicken in the last 100 yards or so.
We are pleased to be able to put up Jason Watson on Four Mile Bridge at Chelmsford; we quietly fancied him off 57 over 12 furlongs at Chepstow at the beginning of the month and he suffered the fate of a lot of each way dabbles by not staying the 12th furlong close home and losing two places in the last 100 yards to be a close up fourth. Down another pound to 56 from an opening mark of 75 we hope he is now really decently handicapped; with 13 runners and a draw of 10 we might need a little luck and ideally Jason will be able to get over to the rail on one side and some travelling horses on his outer; it has to drop right for him in terms of the way the race is run but if it does he should go close to getting us off the cold list.
We take Bird to Love to Southwell; as I touched on earlier in the week the aim of this evening's run is really to find out if she goes on the fibresand; there are a lot of opportunities over the Autumn and Winter if she does; and if she does go on it she is also competitively weighted, especially if you allow some of Ellie's Claim.
Hellfire Kode makes his debut at Newbury tomorrow afternoon; we have a potentially busy day on Saturday with On The Right Track entered at Newbury, Point in Time at Newmarket and Chromium and Goodman Square entered at Wolverhampton in the evening.
