In the event we didn't run Hellfire Kode at Newbury yesterday; but a busy day today with On the Right Track making his debut at Newbury, Point in Time running at Newmarket and both Chromium and Goodman Square running at Wolverhampton.
On the Right Track, who makes his debut in Newbury's seven furlong Novice Stake, is a Mukhadram half brother to our good friends and multiple winners Bayston Hill & Indigo; out of a mare, Jessica Ennis, who is from a classy US turf family effective at around eight furlongs. He will, as do almost all of our two year olds, come on for what he achieves this afternoon but is nice horse in the making for his kind Owner
Of more interest from an immediate performance point of view is our spiffing filly, Point in Time's, engagement in Newmarket's good class twelve furlongs fillies Handicap on the July Course; you can safely draw a line through her last performance, at Kempton in the first week of August, when she was just not physically right and she is much better judged on her spiffing performance in just getting touched off in a valuable 14 furlong Fillies Handicap at Newbury in the middle of July. One of the issues today is that all three of her opponents are three year olds and top horse, Garrel Glen, was not disgraced when running well in the 1000 Guineas and in a Goodwood Listed race and one vu is that this could be the best form on offer; but only four fillies run and there is perhaps not all that much between them on the book and our filly should run well.
Which brings us to the Plate at Dunstall Park, the second race on Wolverhampton's evening card; Chromium has not always run quite as well as we might have hoped since running so decently to be second at Newbury at the end of June; but she is decently drawn in six this evening and wears a visor for the first time (something that our Yard actually has a good record with) and we are looking for that to provide the bit of consistency that her recent runs have not quite carried. Goodman Square ran with a modest degree of promise for the first time at Ffos Las last week and is reunited with her pilot in SW Wales, Isobel Francis, and her vfm seven pound claim; she does seem to have a fair bit to find at the weights this evening even with Isobel's claim and has the worst draw in 13; but we are looking for her to improve with racing (and certainly her Ffos Las performance was a small step towards this) and she goes to Wolverhampton to run well.
