At Kempton both Profound and, particularly, On The Right Track showed some improvement which in the circumstances was something of the aim; On The Right Track, who remains fairly unfurnished, has shown ability on two of her three starts (just put a line through the Newbury run on the heavy) and should be decently effective in Handicaps a la his half brother Bayston Hill as she goes forward and as she matures.
Self evidently we were really delighted with the improvement Bird for Love showed under an excellent ride from Isobel, keeping the Mare interested, competitive & balanced throughout, witness the video here; she showed, just like her Cousin Bird for Life, that Kempton could be the place for her over the Winter, especially given how lightly raced she is.
Freedom and Wheat looks to put his modest performance at Lingfield last week behind him and build on what he achieved on his first run on the fibresand over seven furlongs in the middle of last month; he comes back down in trip to six furlongs, which the balance of his form suggests might suit better than the seven; he is decently drawn to avoid the kickback if he can be up with the pace and in a tightly handicapped competitive race he is weighted to be effective.
Four Mile Bridge runs in a ft visor; he has not had all that much of the rub over his last two runs since we came back down in trip with him and replacing pieces with the visor is one response to that; the draw, which was almost certainly one factor in him not winning at Wolverhampton two starts back, could be better this evening but he should have an excellent chance at the weights with Thomas Greatex's Claim.
Which brings us to Bird for Life dropping back to twelve furlongs in the Amateur Handicap under Ciaran; she has a fine record at Kempton but the constraint might be the mark of 68 that that record has warranted; she will need to produce a career best performance to win off it and the balance of her form over the last year might suggest that twelve furlongs is at the bottom end of her stamina range.
Skyllachy makes his debut over six furlongs at Wolverhampton tomorrow evening.
