We we were delighted with Waqaas at Wolverhampton, both per se and for his kind Owner Breeders; it is tricky to produce a horse from behind at Dunstall Park so that it challenges without going between horses and Steve Donohoe rode him to a tee; the handicapper will of course have a say (can't be that harsh for a neck) but this was his only his second run on the tapeta (and the first was on his first run back after a long break) and he should be really competitive going forward.
Bird to Love ran well to be third, getting the second leg of the ew trixie up and might have been a tad closer and certainly second if she had not been sightly held up when Ryan wanted to improve as they reached the turn in; you can see her performance by following this link; we might look to go up in trip with her.
Bayston Hill is not as young as he was and we will have to think about headgear for him and might see how he faces blinkers or possibly a hood; for the second time running he has not been keen enough early; he clearly hadn't been told about the ew trixie. Arlecchino's Shade will come on for what he achieved yesterday; but it is better not to dwell on Gifted Dreamer for whom a change of career might be on the horizon directly; he is a spiffing person who just cannot run very fast.
This evening we go back to South Wales with our spiffing servant Bird for Life under her best friend Ryan Tate; she is up just three pounds for taking advantage of her lower turf mark over the c&d and she goes back to Chepstow with a spiffing chance of landing the hat-trick.
Q20Boy and On The Right Track go to Sandown tomorrow; and Dreamboat Annie to Leicester.
Finally there is one other piece of Industry Good News; the levels of Prizemoney are to be restored to pre pandemic levels from the 1st of September; and this will include the payments down to eighth place, £300 per race on the flat and £350 under Rules; if you go here it will take you to the announcement and if you click here you can see the overarching ROA statement; the Yard has had worse days than yesterday.
