Born To Please proved again how much she loves the mud! It was great to give Harriet Tucker a winner; she rode a very intelligent race. It’s very easy to go too soon at Nottingham because the straight is so long but she kept a cool head and won very cosily in the end. It’s very satisfying going back and winning the same race two years running; last year we then went on to Uttoxeter and won again. That seems like the right thing to do but there is another female only amateur race back at Nottingham next Wednesday 4th November. It’s a slightly higher grade and it’s coming a bit quick but she wouldn’t carry much weight on ground she loves so it’s very tempting. She would run before her handicap changed so she might have to carry a weight penalty which will affect our decision. We will know more about that tomorrow I think.
We will just put a line through Bird To Love’s Chelmsford run, she just didn’t enjoy it and that’s that. I probably wouldn’t be too keen on trying the longer distance again but she has always put in the odd bad run so we can’t be sure it was just the trip that didn’t suit.
Misu Pete is running at Wolverhampton tomorrow. The race is at 6pm, it’s over the extended mile and he has finally landed a good draw in 4. It all looks good, he just needs to get a good position close to or on the rail. Fingers crossed.
Bird For Life may go to Kempton on the Wednesday 4th November. I’m gutted we didn’t run her at Kempton this week. There was a higher grade two mile race that only had 8 runners which would have made it a bit easier for her. We chose to go for the lesser race, I just hope it doesn’t attract a full field.
