Born To Please’s race did look a bit competitive beforehand but I’m not sure I would put it all down to that. She just wasn’t having a good day, she acted out of character before the race and she didn’t jump or travel with any fluency. It’s possible she’s been doing a bit too much at home and she just didn’t feel her best. She did actually run on after that last but it was too late. I think she is also missing Harriet, she has formed a bond with her. We will probably look for one more race over hurdles, then we might switch back to the flat if there is any soft ground in April. When the ground dries up in late spring we will give her a proper holiday this year.
Bird For Life ran a very good race this afternoon to finish 3rd in good company. She does show a better turn of foot with a lighter weight so it’s something we will keep in mind going forward. It was a very encouraging run though and she can’t be far off winning.
Misu Pete will hopefully go to Wolverhampton for an apprentice race on Monday. The race has to divide for him to get in but it looks very likely to do so. Because it’s a 10 winners and under race, Isobel isn’t qualified to ride so will find another jockey for him. Our friend Bradley Harris is jockeyed up on another horse in the race but if they are in opposite divisions he could still ride.
