We have had better days at Lingfield than yesterday; it is difficult to know quite what to make of The Bay Warrior; other than to say that he seemed not to get home after a strongish pace over the first half of the race and that he didn't appreciate the polytrack as much as he did the Wolverhampton tapeta; we will go back to the drawing board with him and it would be true to say that we were disappointed that he didn't build on what he achieved at Wolverhampton. Dreamboat Annie didn't have too much luck having been held up on the turn in and ran an OK race to be beaten not so far; she remains capable of winning in this grade when things drop better for her.
Timeforaspin goes to Uttoxeter this pm; he blew some of the cobwebs away on his first run for us (and his first run for almost a year and a half) at Kempton in the second week of January and then ran a spiffing race in a good quality Newbury Handicap Hurdle leading over the second last and still being bang there going to the last before weakening on the run in; the bare result does not, as the RP Race Readers articulated, do justice to his performance at Newbury; witness a video of the last three hurdles. Off two pounds lower and away from a Grade One track we go to Uttoxeter to improve again and to be competitive.
A quiet week beckons with no runners before the weekend.
