Back in Action at Wolverhampton Saturday Evening
We have declared Spirit of Rowdown for the extended nine furlong Handicap, the third race on Wolverhampton's Twilight Card Saturday evening; Charlie will ride and the combo will be looking to defy the ninth furlong, the three pound hike and the rise in class to achieve their fourth win over the course to go with the one they achieved at Chelmsford at the end of November; their other three runs at Wolverhampton over the Winter produced three places so one can reasonably say he has been more than a spiffing servant for our Nursery and to his kind Owners.
Another leg of the Nursery Syndicate, Perthshire, could run at Southwell on Monday; keep an eye out for him and the improvement he is likely to show on his first run, back in November also on the fibresand; he is the kind of scopy, immature and late developing horse (which is a factor in running him on the sand) who will improve over time and who could well have a future under Rules; Monday might not be quite his day, yet, and, from one of Juddmonte's tremendous twelve and fourteen furlongs family including the Oaks winner Reams of Verse, he is quite likely to go up in trip as we go into the Summer; but he is not devoid of ability and pace witness working (on the far side) with Dylan's Sea Song a couple of weeks back; we might think he will show some improvement on Monday
