My partner and I moved house last week and it’s been weighing on us for a while but we are in now and I can focus a bit more on the horses again. There’s quite a bit to go through. Firstly Born To Please is down to run at Newton Abbot on Wednesday at 4:40. It wasn’t one of our more favoured races for her but it might work out quite well. It’s over 2 miles 2 furlongs and I’ve wanted to try her over further for a while now. The ground could go either way. It’s currently good and they are watering to maintain because they obviously don’t believe they will get much rain but it could come. James Davies it back riding her as he’s available. Although she will have to carry more weight, his experience will be important over the further trip.
The big news is Bird To Love IS IN FOAL! She has been scanned and all is good so far. Apparently a heartbeat will come in 2 weeks and we have been advised against doing too much until then, so all being well will be able to start running her in the second half of May. We may put something together to syndicate the foal but there’s plenty of time for that.
We decided against going to Nottingham with Misu Pete next Saturday. The mile start is very close to the bend and it can get a bit rough in apprentice races which we don’t want. We will look for other options for him if the conditions are right.
Bird For Life is recovering for her minor issues from her last race. There aren’t loads of options for her. The grass is going to be a bit risky at the moment with the ground so unpredictable, so we will go for a race at Lingfield on the all-weather on the 25th May.
