Bayston Hill & Meisterzinger Back at Chelmsford
We take Bayston Hill and Meisterzinger back to Chelmsford this evening or their ten furlong Handicap, the last race on their Twilight Card.
This is a particularly tricky, tightly
handicapped, jobbie that is populated with guys who might not be in
quite the best form of their lives (a noticeable exception to this is
Meisterzinger!); at his best Bayston Hill would have a real competitive
chance off 70 but there are several constraints, one of which is that
notwithstanding his terrific track record in Essex, all five c&d
wins have come from a low draw and he is drawn handy for the City Centre
this evening; it would probably not be particularly clever to put too
much emphasis on this but he is not quite as young as he once was and
has taken a bit longer than in previous years to get ready to return to
the track; he has been a terrific servant to our Yard and to his people
and it is great to see him an Danile Muscutt back on the track and how
he runs this evening will help us campaign him going forward.
Meisterzinger, though, might fit the bill;
'weak' and backward when with Mark Prescott he has been quietly
progressive for us as his maturity progresses and he has considerably
more scope and room for improvement than a lot of this evening's field
(he is one of only two three year olds) and is bang well drawn in
three; you will see from his form sheet that we have not overaced him
and this time next year he could well be a real nice handicap horse if
he isn't that already; he should run well from close to the pace this
evening and should have a decent competitive ew chance off the same mark as when third a month ago.
We have a number of multiple entries on
Monday virtually all of which revolve around the outcome of ballots;
often tricky to decide the right approach there will be more of this
tomorrow.
