Intoxication runs in Wolverhampton's fourteen furlong Handicap on their Twilight card this evening; more of her in a mo.
We were particuarly pleased to see Blue Galaxy get nicely into Lingfield's staying Handicap on Tuesday; more of him tomorrow.
We are equally pleased to be able to have
an entry at Kempton on Wednesday evening for The Bay Warrior; although
carrying a tempreament he was, initially quietly and then more so,
progressive in the Spring; he had a setback shortly after powering home
by more than seven lengths at Chelmsford at the end of April and is
maturing into a serious specimem; we hope to get him back on the track
on Wednesday for his kind Owners.
Our last entry before the weekend is Born
to Please in Leicester's Mares Handicap Hurdle on Thursday; she
finished third in the equivalent race in 2020 after having every chance
over the last.
It is not all that easy to be able
articulate the chance of Intoxication at Wolverhampton this evening;
from quite a low level she was ever so quietly progressive running to
around 29 or 30 on her second start in April to 50 on her sixth run, at
Kempton at the end of September, running to a higher mark in each
successive race; she has always been capable of taking a hold and she
effectively pulled her chance away at Kempton over sixteen furlongs at
the end of October when we thought she would run really well; we have
been working consistently at home at getting her to relax in behind and,
in a quite large field over two furlongs shorter than at Kempton with
something of a stronger early pace, we hope that she will be more
amenable this pm; and her competitive chance at the weights really
turns on whether or not she is; she is capable of winning a staying
handicap off her current mark; and here is the rationale that supports this: and the double figure prices represent some real ew value if you are prepared to forgive her her last run.
