Twilight Revenge & Duly Amazed at Kempton
First Verse ran well at Wolverhampton yesterday evening, just
finding the winner, who had been competitive off 74 in the Summer of
2020, too well handicapped off 54; our filly has made the frame in four
of her last six starts since the beginning of September and remains one
to keep an eye on; she actually has an entry at Wolverhampton over six
furlongs on Wednesday afternoon and we will take a vu about that
although the ballot might decide for us; and we shall see if we can
find a race for her on Southwell's tapeta.
Clearly neither The Bay Warrior nor
Meisterzinger were quite right yesterday evening and both, self
evidently, did not run great and both have more ability than they showed
yesterday evening; we will have a close look at both.
Twilight Revenge and Duly Amazed both go to
Kempton this afternoon for their six furlong Restricted Novice, the
first race on the card; Duly Amazed, by the excellent young stallion
Due Diligence, has been slightly held up at various points over the
Summer and Autumn and is likely to significantly come on for both
running and for the experience this afternoon but he is a horse who
should have a future on the track given time.
Twilight Revenge got the hang of things after turning in on his first start three and a half weeks ago; and would have been third in another 25 yards or so; he goes back to Kempton to further his education (he will not be the finished article at the stalls and the start this pm but should do better) but his work has been progressive and he has the intrinsic ability to run well this pm; not that there will be any 250/1 floating around Kempton at 1155 this time. Twilight Son is now the leading Second Season Stallion in Europe on several measures and he does seem to transmit a combination of ability and attitude that makes for an effective racehorse; our guy goes to Kempton to run well and to continue to improve.
