Espirito's Second Start at Chepstow
Not too much doubt that Arlecchino's Gift
was (that relative term) 'unlucky' at Wolverhampton yesterday afternoon
and that the modest draw paid a key role; James just couldn't get him
in early and had to drop right back to ultimately get to the rail; as
he was beginning to significantly improve on the turn in the combo ran
out of room completely; switched and was still improving when he had no
run at all in the last furlong; despite being eased in the last 75
yards he was still only beaten just over a couple of lengths; there
will be another day for sure and even the RP boys allocated him as an
'eyecatcher'.
We take Espirito to Chepstow for their five
furlong Novice Stake this afternoon under Charlie; it is self
evidently difficult to know the strength of the opposition and, just
like our guy, you can reasonably expect those who have run to show some
improvement; Espirito should certainly do that and he should also find
the straight track more conducive than the Lingfield hill and turn in
that he didn't handle quite so well as some on his debut; he has shown
at home that he is capable of putting one hoof in front of another and
we are looking forward to running him and to seeing the level of
improvement that he will make; we hope that he is a nice horse, with a
vfm pedigree, in the making.
