Outturn from Yesterday
It may have
been an interesting day but it would be true to say that we have had
better ones; Espirito seemed to find five furlongs on a flat track on
really quick ground not as conducive as five furlongs uphill at Sandown
on a less quick surface; he is self evidently significantly better than
he showed yesterday; although the winner is clearly a nice filly in
the making who was running off a mark three pounds lower than that she
will carry going forward.
Q20 Boy ran
better than Espirito and wasn't beaten all that far in fourth, keeping
on throughout the last furlong and a half without ever looking likely to
get all that close; he had one thing in common with Espirito, though,
and that was that the winner was a well handicapped person (Twilight
Secret has actually won twice and been second twice from four starts at
DP although it is easy to see that now!); yesterday was Q20 Boy's 13th
run in eight months so there is one explanation; and another is the
blistering hot temperatures which makes the surface more testing is a
second; he and Isobel will bounce back.
No runners
over the weekend or on Monday; we could be back in action with the
eased Rowdown Roza at Kempton next Tuesday afternoon.
