Mark Usher Racing News

Two Runners at Wolverhampton

12 March 2025 Mark Usher Racing news

Grecian God and Shades of May ran adequately without doing quite as well as we might have hoped; GG dwelt and never really got into the race from the wide draw and was beaten just over five lengths, futher than we might have anticipated.

Shades of May ran as though the seventh furlong was a furlong too far having every chance on the turn in before fading; he ran a little better than GG but did not get as close as we hoped that he might.

Outreach and STB were both NRs.

Conquest of Power and This Time Maybe both go to Wolverhampton this evening; it is quite hard to predict how CofP might run off a mark eight pounds higher than when he won at Lingfield a month ago and three pounds higher than when he won at Newcastle; he seems to have around either four or five pounds to find with the favourite this evening and could have been drawn closer to the rail; he seems fairly priced at around sevens and has an ew chance if putiing those last two runs behind him.

But it is defo easier to be more bullish about the chances of TTM; he goes up a further half a furlong in trip which seems likely, on the evidence of his runs this Winter, to suit; he has been real consistent since going up in trip and should have a serious ew chance this evening three pounds better off with Zooks for the just under two lengths at Chelmsford; he is overpriced ew at sevens and eights this morning and has looked on the cusp of winning since the turn of the year; he should run well this evening.

No runners tomorrow.

Hasthing was in the process of running an excellent race in the NH Chase yesterday before tipping up at the last; he would have finished third, probably, otherwise and he remains a horse to follow going forward. Today's vfm ew might be Trapain Law in the Grand Annual; progressive last year he has taken three runs to begin to come to hand this Season but showed clear signs at Edinburgh lt that he was back to the level of last year's form; and he is well handicapped this afternoon if he is and is overpriced at 14s or bigger. Two ew singles and an ew double with TTM will pay around 135/1 for the win element of the double and both have excellent ew chances at the weights.
