Shades of May Powers Home at Chelmsford
Delighted for our Racing Club, for Oliver Hoodless, whose first winner he was and Shades of May for whom the right trip and sharpness came together to produce a really splendid result. With luck the OH will only put him up the seven pounds he was wrong last night although he probably add another two or three on; but he should continue to be competitive off that raised mark now that we might have found the right trip; the Steward who enquired into his apparent improvement should have read yesterday's Blog and Tweets; he had a clear form chance if you ignored those last two runs.
Arelcchino's Rex runs in the extended eight furlong Handicap at Wolverhampton this evening under Rose; a dead eight race (so some instant attraction ew) but a reasonable class race for the grade; we run from a pound wrong and might have around five pounds to find on recent form with the front two in the market; but as good a form chance of the other five; he, just like Shades of May, is clearly overpriced at 28s or bigger on the exchanges and is worth a small ew dabble (especially if you are in funds as a result of SofM) notwithstanding the modest draw; just like SofN it is hard to be confident but we expect him to run well this evening.
Yesterday was a happy event all round and bodes well for the rest of the, very damp, Winter.
