Mark Usher Racing News

Runners at Salisbury & Wolverhampton

21 July 2026 Mark Usher Racing news

Shades of May goes to Salisbury for their seven furlong Handicap (6.21); Distillation and Ten Cuidado both go to Wolverhampton for alternate Divisions of their divided seven furlong Handicap (7.30 & 8.00).

Shades of May will be well ridden by Abbie Henry, who works in the Yard and who rides SofM regularly; SofM's first run on turf since Leicester a year ago and only her third ever start on grass so that is one constraint, that he is as effective on grass as he is on the aw; and he comes back to the track for his first run for two and a half months and after running below par, albeit not without respectability, at Southwell at the beginning of May; he seems to have around four pounds to find with Margorie and less with most of the others; he clearly has an ew chance provided he copes with the grass as well as with the artificial surfaces; and he will be sharper for running this evening.

Distillation, respectably drawn in five, is eased two pounds to 50; although on a balanced look at the form book this might give him around seven pounds to find with Hakin Adraar and perhaps six with Zoulette; quite hard to call, although good news that we have been able to get Robert; he is probably fairly priced at around 12s and he goes to Wolverhampton, where he ran his best race the run before last, to show some improvement to close the gap in the weights; on only his sixth start and he is an unexposed horse who will improve with experience.

It is difficult to form a judgement about Ten Cuidado's chance in the second Division; he wears ft eyeshields and is also decently drawn in five, is eased four pounds and he is now ten pounds below his opening mark of 66; this is also just his sixth start so we will be looking for improvement on both what he showed on his comeback run at Kempton a fortnight ago and his overall form pattern; how he gets on this evening will help inform us of the way ahead with him.

Ivat Ghia is goes to Leicester tomorrow evening.
